Q: I own a graphics board and I'm running CGX. How come the WB background
   picture is loaded into chip memory?

A: Because you haven't told CGX otherwise. Do the following from a shell:

   SetEnv ENV:cybergraphx/PLANES2FAST
   Copy ENV:cybergraphx/PLANES2FAST ENVARC:cybergraphx

   And reboot.
